Takar crunched down on the femur bone of the dead elk in front of him and a creamy ooze filtered into his jaws. Bone Marrow was his favourite treat after a large meal. Already the ravens and crows were beginning to flock into the trees above him, waiting silently for their turn. Takar loved making the birds wait. After long minutes of sitting on the carcass the cows started feeling agitated and shifted on the branches, waiting for someone to make a move. "How about it Ruckus? Your awfully quiet today." Takar said to a juvenile bird who usually would never shut up. "J..Just being respectful Takar..." The bird squawked after a few heartbeats. Takar grinned evilly, "Its about time you birds learned your place in this forest." A bird ruffled his feathers. "So what have you to tell me Ruckus? I told you that I will not share my meals unless you give me what I want." "I have the information!" Ruckus blurted loudly, the caw echoing through the trees. Silence continued. "Well?" Takar said in a low voice, angry for having to wait. "Your brother comes to find you Takar, he knows your here." I wonder how he could know... Takar thought. Yul must have reached him very fast, too fast. Eyes narrowed. Backing off the carcass Takar laughed at the nervous birds as he trotted away.

The wolf sat delicately on the earth, his large ears raised high above his head and twitched every now and then. His pelt was a vibrant red-orange, with creamy white along his underside. His eyes were deep pools of black that held a slight hint of madness. He was a smart creature, much more intelligent then the average wolf, which made up for his lack in size. When others were around two to three feet high, he stood a foot and a half from paw to back. He watched the black wolf, his eyes observing every move.
When the wolf turned around from his meal he faced Kaan directly. There was no way the wolf could not see him because of his pelt that clashed against the white snow. Though it seemed dangerous, the Ethiopian was not worried that he had been discovered. In fact, he had been hoping that this would happen. The wolf titled his head to the side in mock curiosity.

Takar saw the small orange coated wolf against the snow right away as he left his kill behind for the birds. Already the small black bodies were screaming and fighting over the scraps. An evil smile curled over Takars fangs. Such a small wolf has the nerve to aproach me in the open? Takar lunged for the Ethiopian wolf, ears back and fangs barred, but stopped just short of five feet away. I will give it to this little one, he has guts for approaching me. A dark glint sparkled in Takar's eye. "What buisness do you have with me little wolf?"

The small creature made no move nor did he flinch as the wolf lunged forward. Kaan held he ground, and the other black wolf stopped a few feet away, his expression changing.
"What business do you have with me little wolf?" he spoke, and at this Kaan smiled, his chops curling over his small, dagger-like teeth. His tail flicked behind him and his large ears pulled back.
"Hmm, hmm, hmm!" he muttered to himself, and then his jaws snapped at the air in front of him. There was no reason nor aggression toward this motion. He just simply had a weird mind. "Business for him, but question for you. He wants you to say yes." The wolf's speech was very, very odd, but not from where he had come from. The distant deserts from far away. There, the other Ethiopians spoke the same way. To Kaan, the way the wolves here spoke was the odd way. His tail flicked once again, scattered the snow behind him.
"He has been sent by the others. He has been invisible to you and watched. He has seen your ways..." Kaan stood then, not even a flash of fear in his eyes, and circled the wolf. His body was low to the ground as he shadowed across the snow, lifting his paws up high because of his dis-like of the snow.

Takar narrowed his eyes and flicked his tail when the little wolf implied that he had been watched. "Who has seen my ways?" Anger was beginning to over come the curiosity of the wolf in front of him. As the Ethiopian wolf walked in circles around him, Takar's blood began to boil. Now is not the time... A sane voice echoed inside his head, and shaking his fur, Takar began to calm down again.

The small wolf did a full circle before sitting off to the side. His head cocked to the side and he smiled.
"All of the ones that follow, that want the past to return to him." Kaan sneezed as a flake of snow fell from the tree above and onto his sensitive nose. He mumbled incoherent words under his breath before he looked back up. "He wants you to join them. He wants you to help. If you don't, then they will just kill you with the rest." The wolf once again began to speak in third person. "Kaan says it, and the black killer wolf must answer. Hmm...? If he wants power, then he must come with Kaan."

Hmm... Unusually Takar didn't like what he was hearing from Kaan. Damit... Takar sat on the ground, not caring if the other wolf thought he was letting his guard down. Tarak will be here soon... I can feel it and the crows have confirmed my suspicions. If I go with Kaan now, I will loose the upper hand with my brother. If I don't go with Kaan I will miss out on a delicious plot. Hell, this land has a lot to offer a wolf like me. "I do not think dieing will be my fate." Takar grinned wickedly at Kaan. Going with Kaan might be a way to make Tarak suffer more. "Lead the way." Takar said, getting up again. He did not trust the other wolf's promise of power, because Takar of all wolves knew what it was like to prey on others minds.

The small wolf smiled once again, and turned toward the trees. He trotted slowly through the snow, ears pulled back in his distaste. His tiny head pulled to the side and he looked toward the wolf as he walked.
"His name is Kaan," he said, looking back to his front. "He was found by the kin, and the kin helped if he obeyed. And Kaan obeys. Kaan obeyed and killed the birds that began to tell the secrets, and Kaan obeyed and came to get you." The small Ethiopian swerved abruptly to the side at the sound of a twig snapping and flattened himself against the ground, only to realize that it was himself that stepped on the twig.
"He must be careful....quiet..." he murmured, snaking along the ground once again.

Takar walked through the snow behind Kaan listening to what the little wolf had to say. Sounds like I walked right into the beginnings of a war. Licking his lips at the thought Takar looked forward to meeting the mastermind behind all this.
Up ahead Kaan stepped on a twig and and the sound of the snap echoed out through the forest.
"He must be careful....quiet..." Takar raised an eyebrow and smiled a little bit. "How many followers does this evil one have?" Takar said. He wanted to get a better idea of what he was about to walk into.

Kaan twitched his nose and looked around the clearing, turning in circles to scout out the perimeter.
"He has many with him. And though others call him evil, they do not think so. Kaan is just obeying, and they make him obey what the laws should have been." Kaan gave one last look around before dashing under a fallen pine tree. There was a bit of dirt that he flung out into the open with his paws before he disappeared under the branches. All was silent for a few moments before his small head peeked out from the green needles.
"Come, come!" he said, and then dashed back down the large hole that was hidden by the trees branches. "Hmm, hmm, hmm!" he said, and it echoed out of the tunnel and to the wolf.

"Laws.." Takar said slowly, and not with much delight. Takar didn't live by anyone’s rules; he only lived for himself. As Kaan disappeared down the tunnel they had approached, Takar took some time to sniff around the entrance. He was feeling slightly off his game knowing that he could be walking into a problem he wouldn't have control over. Smells of dominant aggressive males, and some females came to him, none of which he recognised. Takar gave Kaan a smile full of fangs when the little head popped back out of the hole. "Just one moment." Looking around at his surroundings once more, Takar filtered and categorised all the scents that came to him. Just from smell he would be able to tell which wolves he was going to meet were rivals or not. Walking into the hole, Takar had to go onto his belly at first to squeeze through the entrance. Inside it expanded and Takar followed an excited Kaan through the underground tunnel.

(PS. Tarak does not know where Kaan and Takar went)
Tarak found the dead deer by shear smell alone. It didn't take long after entering the free lands to realise Takar had been here. The crows, ravens and eagles had picked away at the carcass of the deer, but the underlying scent had his brother written all over it. Tarak growled involuntarily. This kill is only a day old... where is he? Takar looked everywhere for the tracks leading way from the kill, or even a scent trail but there was nothing. The damn crows must be working for Takar. Only they would have been able to erase a trail this fresh. Looking out into the distance, Tarak wondered when they would meet.

The small wolf shuffled through the dirt, finally able to move freely among the large tunnel that slithered under the ground. His large eyes were reflecting the light from the small opening every time he looked back to see if Takar was following, and with every look he hopped a few paces forward. Kaan was smiling, proud of himself for yet again completing one of his important missions.
After a few minutes of darkness, both of the wolves finally came to a large opening, bigger than the tunnels. It was big, and round, and four pairs of glowing eyes broke through the blackness. Three were a breath-taking ice-blue, and the last was bright yellow. They blinked, taking in the newcomer, and Kaan crawled up to them, his belly flat on the ground as he yipped happily. Her crawled to one of the blue eyes with his body in full submission.
"Kaan has brought the twin to you, just like they asked. He did good, did he not? Kaan only wants their approval," he whimpered, licking a pitch black wolf on his chin. The wolf smiled, and replied with a nod.
"You have done well, little one." called out a voice, thick with molasses and strong like steel. It was a male's voice, empowering and dripping with authority. Kaan nodded and smiled, overjoyed at the wolf's praise. "Takar," he said afterwords, his frightening gaze on the wolf now. The power of his stare was strong enough to break glass. "We thank you for coming. We know of your....busy schedule," his eyes gleamed with amusement at his words, as if it were some type of joke, and continued. "So we appreciate you taking time to fit us in."

Takar looked ahead through the darkness of the tunnel and caught the scent of wolves up ahead. Some light was filtering down from holes in the earth made by roots, and the reflected light bounced off the eyes of the dangerous wolves before him. Tarak let his fur stand on end in an aggressive manner to make his body look bigger then it really was. The mean appearance would make any attackers think twice before approaching him. He watched as Kaan grovelled up to the pitch black wolf before him, only too happy to have completed his assignment. How many times in the past had wolves come grovelling to his feet only to realise they had been deceived? Too many... The thought made Takar almost smile.
"Takar, we thank you for coming. We know of your....busy schedule So we appreciate you taking time to fit us in." Takar laughed, not intimidated by the alpha males thick powerful voice. "Yes, a busy schedule indeed." Takar licked his lips. "I can almost taste the flesh of my brother." The other wolf already indicated he knew of Takar's plan, so he didn't bother holding his plot back. Narrowing his eyes, Takar's mood changed and he asked, "You have quite the plot going yourself though. I have felt the stir in the trees, even if I am not from this land. What have you to offer me?" Takar was getting straight to the point. He had played many of these games himself when he was back home. He was called here for a reason, and he also knew that any promises this wolf was willing to give out would most likely lead to dead ends.

The wolf smiled, his lips curling over his white teeth. "You are very straight forward, young Takar." the wolf murmured, "But you are also ignorant. But that does not matter, because you hold no fear, and you are vicious, and that is just what we need."
The wolf stood, and finally walked into the small patch of light that seeped through the small cracks in the ceiling. He was large and strong. with the darkest of black fur. There were a few jagged scars across the bridge of his nose, though the rest of his body seemed to be in pristine condition.
"My name is Desmin, and I guess you could call me the Alpha of our little brigade. To my left," he said, motioning to the yellow eyed wolf that had now stepped forward. The wolf matched his same color of black as Desmin, his eyes were different then all the others around him. "is Kurl. And to my right, is Blunt." The wolf stepped forward, also brandishing a black pelt. "I assume you already know Kaan," he looked to the small being, and Kaan wagged his tail.
Desmin, however, seemed to have pointedly forgotten to introduce the fourth wolf that sat toward the back, hidden by the shadows of the cavern. The eyes were the same blue as the other two, though the gaze was much more intense then all the others.
"We are offering you a place in our... pack," Desmin chuckled slightly. "I know what you're thinking. What's in it for me? Well, we can certainly provide you with more than one chance to get your revenge on your brother. He is our enemy, and so in turn you are our ally." Blunt chuckled next to Desmin, and a sly smile spread across his face.
"Once we have taken over, you will also have a decent spot among our ranks. Unlimited power awaits you..."
