Catching The snowflakes

"I learned at a very young age. That I was only mortal. Nothing special. We all can't be heroes. Then who'd fill the awed audiance, watching in amaze." Sirra walked through the forest, she loved to talk to herself, and the theories that came with it. She'd been having troubles living with herself even since Serenity died, and it was hard. For if any member dies, who do you look to blame? The medic. Yes the only one who could've possibly saved them. But no... I wasn't even there. I didn't even know. Her face grew grim, an odd thing to see on such a midget, stubby little wolf like her, It wont happen again. I vow it. She looked up to the heavans, it was mid day. No stars, but she knew they'd be there to accept her quest.
Her serch for Marigold leaves still went on, it was a useful herb. If anywolf had swallowed any dangerous plant, human poison, or even a rotton carcass, if they ate it, they'd throw it up and they bad things that came with it. She hoped she'd never have to use it, but it was always good to have some. And Gwyrdd forest was the only forest you could find such stuff. She sighed and moved on, Sirra was almost so short she couldn't see over the tall grasses. Curse it! Her mind beamed, she looked like a pup, but was full grown herself. After that hought though a cough came out of her mouth and started to erupt more. Something sirra was also hiding, she was sick. But what medic ever gets sick? I must be horrible! And she coughed again, looked down and realized she just coughed on a perfectly good patch of marigold. She rumbled in her throught, unhappy and moved on for a noninfected plant. The crows above her laughed and cawed. "Shut up!" She told them. Then one cawed, "Aren't you types sposta be nature friendly er somthin'? Nasty attitude!" another fat one right next to him spoke, "Haha! What a short one too!" And burst out laughing on its tree perch. Sirra's eyes narrowed as she grumbled, "I'll show you Nasty Attitude." And she walked off. Though as she walked off she could've sworn she'd heard another voice, not scavenger though. A wolf. She turned only to be surprised at who it was.
[/blockquote] anybody!? Please! I don't care how long or short the post is. As long as it gets a point.

Riuk watched with growing curiosity as Sirra padded from plant to plant. The Beta, who would have been Alpha if she had wished it or if Serenity's dying wish had not been that Keiran would take over, had just came back from the Beach. She very often went there to pay her respects to both of the wolves that were buried there. Though she had been stricken from both of her friends passings, she had found comfort. Her and Castor had grown very close, and her feelings for him had started to bloom into something magnificent. He made her feel happiness when there was only despair. She was very much wanting to go back to camp to be with him.
Though she felt bad for spying, she couldn't help but watch for a few more moments. As the crows spoke, Riuk couldn't help but shudder, remembering when her and Castor had came upon the dead Ravens. She still did not know why they had been killed.
"Sirra, are you well?" she finally asked, revealing herself. "That's a nasty cough." she mumbled, trotting up to the medic with concern gracing her features.

Snowflakes land on my nose

She began, still picking through the plants, each one she could pick out by maybe just it's smell, yes, wintermint, goldenrod, marigold, but the most satisfying smell, the poisonberry. Deadly yes, but tasty and smells so wonderous. It was bright red and shimmers in the frozen arctic sun like candy. She peeled her eyes away to gather some, I wonder if crows would find it appealing. Shought, yes, her mind was cruel, but only in a joking way. She may not have strength or speed, slender legs and height. But even sometimes power has to bow to knowledge. She broke off the stem and traced the location of the crows in her mind. Right then a bone shattering close voice scared her nearly out of her fur. It was another wolf. She turned around, dropping the red berries and pushing them back with her fore paws, "Oh! Don't ever sneak up on me like that again! You know I'm not trained to watch for others!" Her heart gained speed then slowed down to a normal rate. "Ah.. Riuk, right?" She geussed the Faes name. and as soon as the fae spoke of her cough, Sirra hid the temptation to cough inside.
"Well of course I'm alright dear! I just got some daffy pollon up my nose and it got in my throat." she cursed inside her mind, enving the way others had life even the bit of easier. I don't get sick... But as much as she said it, the more it hurt her to deny it. Sirra's weakness, and it was just too strong.

Riuk recoiled slightly at her loud surprise, but recovered quickly. Her gray eyes softened as she spoke.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," she apologized, a little embarrassed. "I guess I should have thought of that beforehand," but the Beta gave a hearty smile afterward to back up her apology. She sat down in the frozen grass- it hadn't snowed in a while and the frozen flakes had turned into slick ice- and made herself somewhat comfortable. She nodded her small head in acknowledgment. "Yes, I am Riuk," she said with her warm smile still in place.
"Well, that's good," Riuk mumbled. "I was just worried for a moment, since sickness has been striking so much more lately." The femme trailed off for a moment, but then shook herself internally. She waited for a moment in awkward silence, and then spoke to get conversation flowing once again.
"So it must be hard trying to find all the right herbs in this weather..."

Snowflake chills my nose

Sirra calmed a bit, her heart beating steadily now. She always had that cocile look on her face, ready to tend to anyone or anything. "Oh, don't worry dear. It's okay." She smiled greatly and turned her head to cough only a bit, she knew it would even be commented on, so before hand she started to talk once again before Riuk, she made her eyes become worried, "Is everything alright? Why, Riuk I hope you're not sick, because if you are you come to tell me right away!" She dug her nose under a blanket of snow to reveal a dead, brown and boney plant, frozen from the winter. She still bit off the steams and put it to her pile. The red berries of aside more from everything else. Then it became quiet for a while as Sirra searched through the dead plant bussels.
Glad that Riuk changed the subject she gladly answered, "Yes and since I came into our little pack-family here so late in fall I didn't have the proper time to store all of the wilting plants for over the winter. So yes, it is hard to find possibly anything in winter." She looked down at her failed pile of brownish-looking shrubs. "So I must rely on what the forest supplies this winter, and dead plants are better than nothing I must say. Even though if you are lucky, under a blanket of snow you can find nicley preserved plants in which the cold has saved." She smiled and looked up as if that would be most marvelous gift. "Though..... this means that if I don't have my proper bearings of medicine. So if anyone were to get quite sick, we'd need to escort them to a private den so it wont spread. It is quite serious these days." She cocked her head to the side and realized she might be talking too much and fixed her eyes on some unlikley dark-feathered geusts.

Riuk nodded in acknowledgment to Sirra's words. Sickness and death were indeed dominant in the winter. The quick death of Kohsai was proof of that, and though Serenity had not fallen to illness, she could have died because of being malnourished and unable to properly defend herself. Riuk followed the Medic's gaze into the trees, and she shuddered involuntarily. She couldn't help herself as she self-consciously waited for one of the birds to drop dead from the branches.
Riuk looked back to the fae, her brows knitted together. "You haven't noticed anything odd in the forest...have you?" she asked, her eyes twitched uncomfortably from one tree to the other, as if the bird killer were to reveal itself any second.

Snowflake melts like tears...

Sirra soften her gaze, and for a moment there was just a small silence as if to remember the souls who have died in this land. Sirra tried to say something but her voice turned husky and she decided to keep her voice shut. She took her gaze from the crackling ravens to her short and stubby legs. The forest didn't seem right, and she had never seen the ravens as if they were watching ever so closley. They were a wolf's friend, but they never stalked you. Sirra took Riuk's gaze as she spoke, "Well... I haven't been out much. But I can feel how tense the nature is, quiet. I don't hear the birds sing much at this time of year." But inside Sirra knew that wasn't what Riuk was talking about, she suddenly looked at the snowcovered red berries, what was she thinking? Even to think about poisoning crows. Yes well they were annoying, but she relized that she'd never thought like that ever before. Almost as if she were going through an emotional change. Yes, but we're all on edge. I just feel like I need someone to blame besides myself. She wisley spoke inside her own mind.
"Riuk, what do you mean exactly?" Sirra's curiosity showed. She knew enough about behavior to tell when someone was trying to tell her something.

Riuk stood for a moment in awkward silence as Sirra thought about what to say, and then shook her head when she finally answered. It wasn't just the birds, or the trees or the snow. It was something completely different, as if a shadow had been cast over the land. It held a heavy weight on everyones shoulders. Riuk sighed, looked to her feet and then back up to the Fae, her gray eyes glassy.
"It's just that....everything doesn't seem right. Things are dying, a lot faster than they should be. Kohsai, Serenity, even the ravens that Castor and I found the other day. It's all happened too fast, and wolves are acting different." Riuk looked to the ravens, who were listening intently, heads cocked and eyes open. The Beta slightly recoiled at their gaze. She looked back to Sirra.
"I don't think things are going to be getting better anytime soon," she murmured.

...Snowflakes stop falling

Sirra gazed at the fae, she could see her glassy eyes as if she had passed away with the others aswell. Sirra cringed at her voice, because once Riuk finished, Sirra knew exactly what she meant. But is it someone, or something? She asked herself. And she started to feel the spell cast over Amithyst like a cloud of darkness keeping out the sun. Her own fur shivered, "Death..." She spoke quietly shaking her head, she wanted to scream, but kept her sanity.
"I know it, and it feels to be even changing my mood about things. If you hadn't come I might have even got so angry at those crows that..." She stopped herself from finishing and trembled looked up at the crows, she saw the look in their eyes like if any of the two wolves were to die this second, they'd be the first to peck out the eyes. Her fur shook in disgust. "And It isn't just them... I also saw a kerl ealier.." She looked back to the fae, "Riuk, what ever it is I'm not sure if we can prevent it, or know who is next. But if we find out who or what this is.." She looked down at her red berries, "I think even I help to stop it, if we can." and then her eyes started to fire, as if her anger could even see the kerl who had killed Serenity, and what had killed Koshai. But then she stopped and burst out in a terrible wad of coughing, and her knees threatened to fall.

"Yes, If only we knew..." Riuk murmured, her ears falling flat against her skull. If they did indeed find out who was causing such heart-ache, then she was sure that with the help of the others they could overcome the evil. The only problem was that she had no inkling to who it could be. She wasn't even sure if it was only one person. Riuk, looking back to Sirra who held the same fire of hope in her eyes, opened her maw to speak. But she stopped and recoiled as Sirra broke out into a horrible fit of coughs.
"Sirra?" she gasped, and she was suddenly by the Medic's side. "Sirra," she said again, nudging the Fae's side with her nose. "That can't possibly be from pollen..." she whispered, waiting for her coughs to cease. Though, since she was now inches away from the femme, Riuk caught the strong scent of sickness radiating from the pelt in front of her. Her face scrunched at the smell, but the look was quickly wiped from her face. Sirra was ill.

And the Earth shakes to Protest

She turned her head aside as the last few coughs came out, and it startled her to have the fae so close. She desperately couldn't let it spread. And it ceased as she heard her name, her coat was soaked with sweat, even though it was the middle of winter. "That's because it isn't my dear..." Her voice was a bit rough, "Now step back." She could possibly find out the matter in finding whomever was killing, but only a medic could stop a sickness. And it wouldn't be good if the medic was the one sick. "Well this may be a geuss, but I don't think one kerl by himself could do this all alone. Someone must be helping them. Someone from inside a pack---" Sirra was interrupted by a cough. She knew the perfect herb to stop this cough, but it was only buried dead under snow. Could they be doomed? She had to face the fact she couldn't be exposed too much else Amithyst would go extinct. She took a few step backs and touched her nose in the nicley cold snow.

Riuk stood by the coughing Sirra, ears pulled back in worry. She had completely forgotten about their earlier discussion, because all she could think about was her pack-mates health. She watched as the Medic scooted away from her, and ordered fro her to stay back, but Riuk didn't care if she caught the sickness. If she could she would take it from Sirra, not only because she was the packs only Medic, but because Riuk was that selfless.
"I don't care about that right now." Riuk murmured, thinking of any possible way to cure her coughing. "Come on, we need to go back to the caverns. You need to get well." Riuk's face showed that she was not willing to lean on her decision, and if she had to, she would pick Sirra up by the scruff and drag her to camp if she had to.
"Is there anything I can do? Any plant I can fetch that will ease this?" Riuk asked, determined to help. Maybe if she could give Sirra the time she needed, then the Medic could figure out a way to cure herself.

Then the last Snowflake comes

Riuk wouldn't go back, and for a moment Sirra though that the fae didn't understand how dangerous it could be for their health. It was caught through the air, just by even breathing the germs in. Sirra shook her head, wearing in protest to this. And she lost the conversation, and knew that even though Riuk had a most wonderful, selfless heart, it could get her in trouble one day. Sirra began the next step to the dens, but stopped and looked down at her weak pile of dead, but useful herbs. "I was looking for it. Thyme. But as much as I looked it was not to be found in Amithyst territory. I haven't looked anywhere else. It's hard to find, and I'm not sure even it will work at this time of year." Her voice was rough, and she walked over to pick up her measly pile, her legs, and tail down in defete. She'd never do good. "Um..." She tried to think, delirious, "It smells a sharp taste, it is bright and wavey, but at this time of year it would be more dead, brown and stiff. You'd know it once you smell it..." And Sirra looked up to her packmate, her amber eyes saying a quiet thanks.

Riuk, sighing in content as the Medic finally began to listen, followed the Fae as she gathered her herbs. Sirra spoke of a certain plant that Riuk knew would be of use, and the Beta nodded, but continued to herd the femme toward the pack dens. She promised herself that she would go and look for the herb, she would do anything to help cure the disease, but for now all she wanted was for the Healer to get safely in her den so she could rest.
"My soul purpose will be to look for that plant, I promise you, but right now I want you to go back to the dens." she murmured, not taking no for an answer. She had remembered clearly what they Fae had explained, so she knew what it was she was to look for. Riuk looked to Sirra, and could see the silent gratitude in her eyes. The Beta smiled warmly and motioned with her head for Sirra to continue.
"I will make sure that everything goes alright, Sirra. I will find the plant and you will figure out how to cure this sickness. You are a great Healer, and if anyone can figure this out, you can."

And all is done.
Sirra smiled greatfully he little short legs moving on, at a slow pace, she was still fine, but that would be until the sickness spread into her system more; she knew this. But she had doubts as in looking for this herb, she even remembered going out into the unknown territories and meeting that kerl, she didn't find it there either. She had looked hard, and she knew it would even be harder for Riuk, the faithful fae even more for she'd never seen thyme. "Thanks.. But don't stress yourself over it. Riuk, put what is in need first." Sirra said quietly, her voice saddened. Her legs were rejecting to go home to the dens, they knew she wanted to stay out, and help herself, her pack. Not fail. Her beta was much to kind, but confindence was always good. Sirra wished deep inside that she'd never see this fae at loss of hope. Riuk was just so bright it was contagious. She stopped smiling, her face hung, "Yes, good luck. I wish I had your spirit, Riuk." Sirra said after a moment of silence. Her voice starting to get scratchy. The dens were in veiw, and she could barley scope out the medicine den piled with melting snow, and she noticed the sun got brighter since they've been walking. Sirra turned to Riuk, shaky, and bowed her head in thanks. "If I could ever repay you, or my pack." She smiled and hobled over to her entrance where a deep sleep could win her over. Even though every cell in her body rejected that. "But, We Are only mortal".[/blockquote]
