Kurl indeed felt remorse for Ebony. So much so that after he let go of her throat he pressed his head against her unmoving body. How could he not? She was indeed evil, and Kurl himself had a hint of evil in him as well, but he was her family; the only family he had left. He ignored the voices of the other wolves, even when Ruedi's howl filled the background. All his attention was on Ebony.
Soon, as the voices slowly died down, and Ruedi spoke, Kurl looked up from Ebony's bloody fur. "How are you feeling?" Ruedi had said. How was he feeling? He wasn't completely sure. He had nothing left, nothing to his name. He was just Kurl now, though he didin't regrett what he did. Ebony would only have stopped through death.
"I will manage." he said coldly. "We should get back to your wolf now." he said to Ruedi. "Kaan may be small, but he can certainly be a handful; especially to a wounded female." he said, picking himself up and heading into the trees. Ebony remained standing, even through death; and he would leave her there to stand for as long as she could. She would have wanted that.
