Never Giving Up

He noticed he wasn't doing any damage when suddenly he heard Ebony call out, Desmin! He yelped in pain as Desmin placed his paw directly on his nose. The pain was suddenly becoming more prominent. It all vanished when Desmin gave him a strong kick to the head. He saw Ebony escape. He staggered up. He was tempted to chase Ebony, but Ruedi needed help. He limped to Desmin, his energy was quickly draining. I will kill him then. he thinks. I will kill her beloved. he thought when he remembered Ebony's words, You stupid dog.... you never let your enemy know who is precious to you. His green eyes locked onto Desmin. "Lobo will be avenged!" he shouted as he dashed forward and grabbed his throat. He used the rest of his energy biting down as hard as possible. He knew he didn't have the most vulnerable part of Desmin's throat, but letting go would allow Desmin to throw him off. So, he bit down harder. The pain from his wounds was starting to return to him and he was exhausted from blood loss. All he could do was hold on.

Ruedi's blood began to rush out out if body, and his vision began to blur, but now was not the time to give up. Ebony had slipped out of his deadly grasp, along with Kaan whom had pried his fangs out from his back side. He was in so much pain he began to feel numb and it would be a while until his wounds would completely heal. As he seen the flash of black dart off, he only though of one thing..."R-Riuk! he gasped feeling dizzy as he struggled to lean up on his fore-legs. Desmin had tackled him back down, grabbing a hold of his leg, twisting and tearing it. He wouldn't be able to walk either for a while. When all hope was almost lost, Crag had jumped onto Desmin, grabbing the back of his neck, which had made Desmin let go and gave Ruedi a chance to bite down on the front part of his neck, his fangs sinking with in deeply. They were going to end this wolf, once and for all.

Desmin was overpowered. he knew that this day was going to be his last from the very first time he felt the enemy sink their fangs into his flesh. He had known, yet he didn't run away from his fate. He would rather die protecting the one he loved then to die a death of a coward, even if the one he loved was an evil being, and even if she did not share his feelings. He felt a pair of fangs clamp onto the back of his neck and he fell backward. Ebony was gone and safe, so he let the pain and death come to him. He laid on his side as another set of teeth entered his throat. He could feel the rush of blood pour out of his life vein, and he let out a gurgled sigh, a bubbled of blood forming at his mouth. He looked into the eyes of the wolf in front of him.. Ruedi, as his lids slowly closed.

"I'm sorry.....please tell....tell Ebon-.....I.....love-.....!" he managed to splutter with his last heaving breaths. His body grew slack underneath the bodies of the enemy wolves, his gaze frozen in place as they still looked into the eyes of Ruedi. The ice-blue seemed to fade slightly in the irises, and they now just looked like flat, grey orbs. The life had left him, and he was now 21 grams lighter.

The blood painted wolf shook his head, clamping his jaws down harder on his prey, his victim. He could see it in the icy-blue wolf's eyes that this day was indeed his last as Ruedi and Crag took him down together. As Ruedi had heard the gurgled sigh, listening to his last breaths of air, the brute looked at him I'm sorry.....please tell.......tell Ebon-.....I love-.....! and with those last words, he laid limp in his jaws, and he was able to stand up, but just for a minute. Ruedi dropped his body onto the floor, licking his blood stained maw, and looking down at him, but not with anger. No, was it possibly forgiveness? It couldn't be, but it if it wasn't that, it was sadness. He had killed someone trying whom had tried protecting his loved one, exactly what he was going to do for Riuk. This wolf was nothing like the brute Riuk had killed...he didn't really fight back.

Then Ruedi looked up with Crag, his eyes dead on and very serious. "We've got to go back to Riuk. She could be in danger and it's my fault. If any thing happens to her I don't know what I'd do..." But that was more likely impossible with his injured leg and other wounds that stung, he fell back to the ground, trying to crawl back from where they came. He wasn't going let anything happen to her.

He let go and got up from Desmins body. He didn't feel any pity for the wolf like Ruedi possibly did. Desmin died to protect someone he loved. Lobo wanted to protect all, but he was killed without mercy. We've got to go back to Riuk. She could be in danger and it's my fault. If any thing happens to her I don't know what I'd do... He nodded his head, his green eyes dull. He forced his head under Ruedi and slid him down to his back. He stood with his legs wobbling under the strain. He began slowly forward, one shaking step at a time. He was going to get Ruedi back to Riuk. He looked back at the blood stained battlefield one last time, then at Lobo's still form lying on the blood soaked ground. He remembered once again Lobo's words, what we should do is help the wolves of these pack lands take down their so called Fenris, even if it kills us! He had helped take them down and it had killed him. Ironically if Lobo hadn't been killed they wouldn't have found Ebony, or killed Desmin, because Ebony wouldn't have howled.. So, it was Lobo's death that helped bring down Fenris.
