Riuk was the first to come out from the trees and her pelt twitched away snow from her fur. The cold weather had caused the sky to gray, and even though the sand was cold, it still slipped between her toes uncomfortably with every step. Her breath came out in fogs before her, each exhale a puff of twirling, frozen smoke.
The Beach looked much different from when it did in the summer, and the snow covered trees along the coast looked very odd against the white sand and the black water. If it had not been for the constant tide, the beach itself would have surely been covered in white as well.
The Beta sighed when her eyes fell upon the slightly raised mound of sand, far from where the waves could wash away what was buried beneath. This place held some of her happiest and saddest memories, yet at the moment she could only think of the femme that lay beneath the earth. Riuk silently padded across the sand and sat on her haunches next to the mound and sagged her shoulders.

Castor's larger body followed Riuk through the trees and out onto the sands of the familiar Tywod Beach. He shook snow from his fur momentarily, watching as the beta female automatically went to Kohsai's side, seating herself next to the depressing mound in the beautiful golden sand. The sight made him sigh with sadness, dragging himself over to her side and sitting down, tail curled about his paws. Like her, his gaze was drawn down to the shallow grave, remembering the sights and sounds of the femme within it almost like it were yesterday.
"It happens to us all eventually. For reason." He murmured, trying to comfort Riuk, knowing she was already fragile emotionally from the slaughter they had seen earlier on in the day.
Now the sun was setting beyond the horizon and Serenity was still nowhere to be seen. Castor could only hope that nothing bad had befallen the alphess, and that they were merely looking in the wrong place. Serenity should be back at the den now, shouldn't she? With Kebi and Sirra? That's what he hoped at least, as he laid his head affectionately on top of Riuk's, trying to ease her pain.

Riuk sighed and leaned into Castor, his weight supported her small frame easily. "She's not here," she murmured. The disappearance of her Alpha was disappointing, though she hoped that she was safe back in the caverns. If not, than Serenity was experienced enough to handle anything herself, she hoped.
Riuk turned her head slightly to look out over the rippling water. The large waves crawled up the sand until it's strength dwindled and it toppled back into a wet mass. The sun was setting, and the half that remained floating against the horizon reflected off of the ocean to appear as if it were still full. Orange tongues licked against the waves and lit the sky on fire. It was very beautiful and seemed to lighten the mood.
"Do you think shes happy wherever she is? Kohsai I mean... Do you think that when we die we go to a better place, or do we simply no longer exist? " Riuk tilted her head away from the sunset and met Castor's eyes.
